Finances are the biggest holiday stressor

A recent survey by the American Psychological Association (APA) found that 8 out of 10 people expected finances to create a stressful holiday season this year. Women and families with children were more likely than men to worry that they'll have insufficient funds to buy gifts. Psychologists stress that gifts shouldn't be the focus of the holiday. APA suggests 5 tips for reducing stress at this time of year:

  1. Take time for yourself
  2. Volunteer
  3. Have realistic expectations
  4. Remember what's important
  5. Get help if you need it.
