Parenting style and academics

As the school year comes to a close, here's a study I found about the impact of parenting style on academic achievement. The April 2008 issue of Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin published a study suggesting that parenting style has an effect on students' work ethic. Parents with an "authoritarian" style (strict, control-oriented parents) were more likely to have children whose "conscientiousness" or work ethic declined over the course of a year. This was related to a decline in grades a year later.
